1980's Factory Fully Handmade Yixing Teapot 90ml
This vintage teapot was made in the late 1980s by an independent workshop, inspired by the enduring simplicity of the celebrated 1960s Factory One red clay forms. Its proportions are quiet and balanced, reflecting a design philosophy where every curve serves the act of brewing rather than ornament.
Formed from fine yixing clay, the teapot carries the warmth and subtle character that have long made this material a favorite among Gongfu tea practitioners. The clay feels grounded in the hand, gradually developing a softer luster through years of use as it becomes familiar with the rhythm of tea.
With a capacity of approximately 90ml and a single-hole spout, the teapot is well suited to intimate Gongfu sessions, inviting slower brewing and attentive observation as each infusion unfolds. Its modest size encourages presence, allowing the preparation of tea to become a conversation between leaf, water, vessel, and hand.
Original 1960s shuiping teapots have become increasingly rare, often finding their place in collections rather than daily practice. This piece offers something different: a vessel that carries the spirit of that tradition while remaining fully at home in everyday use. It is a teapot meant to be reached for often, gradually deepening in character alongside the tea it brews.
Gentle signs of age remain on the surface, subtle reminders of the years that have passed. They do not detract from its function, but instead speak quietly to a life already lived. Three teapots are available, each with its own small variations that reflect the individuality of handcrafted work from this era.
