New Moon in Pushya Nakshatra | July 2025 Energy Update, Rituals & Reflections

A cycle is completing. Chapters come to an end, and from that dark night and soil, a new dawn arises. What are you calling in for this new cycle?

This New Moon occurs on July 24, 2025  at  12:11 PM PT in 2° Leo (Tropical/Western) and 8° Cancer (Sidereal/Vedic). It also takes place in the Pushya nakshatra, the star of nourishment, ruled by Saturn and symbolized by the udder of a cow. It brings a potent invitation to re-anchor into what sustains us spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

Pushya’s energy is often misunderstood as passive or “soft,” but its strength lies in steady devotion, protection, and dharmic alignment. It is in the sign of Cancer. And in Western astrology, this new moon lines up with the sign of Leo. We can see the crossover of themes when it comes to both of their gentle strength, devotion and Divine Protection.

This is a time to examine what you’re feeding and what’s feeding you.

👉  Are your roots strong enough to carry you forward?

👉 What boundaries need to be restructured in order to support your growth?

This lunation occurs at 8° Cancer (Sidereal), and 2° Leo (Tropical).
You’ll want to see where this falls in your chart by degree. It's important to reference your own chart and not just go by your 'rising sign' or 'ascendent' alone.

(TIP: each house/sign has 30 degrees in it; if you're a 22' Capricorn Rising/Ascendent, then your houses start at 22 degrees according to Equal House calculations. Some astrologers use whole sign or placidus, but I personally prefer Equal Sign house calculation. Feel free to DM me if you need help figuring out where this New Moon is for you!)

Vedic Mythology

In Vedic lore, Pushya is associated with Brihaspati, the teacher of the gods, a figure of wisdom, discipline, and moral clarity. This new moon may ask us to step into greater maturity, whether it's through feeding what uplifts us and not what depletes us, or to walk the talk of our values...

Intentions and Reflections for this New Moon

  • Anchor into your spiritual or emotional “home”
Question: How or Where can I receive the right nourishment? What rules can I set in order to feel more safe in my body or environment—more "at home"?

  • Discern between true nourishment vs over-giving.

  • Reorganize routines, roles, and responsibilities to better support what you truly need.
